Hello friends and fellow foodies!
Today I share something different and simple: Celeriac tostones!
Celeriac is a close relative of celery and a very aromatic root. We can fry it as tostones just like most roots.
Caribbean people love tostones. This is just another version of it.
Ingredients
- 1 large Celeriac.
- Oil.
- Salt.
Directions
Peel your celeriac and fry it in abundant oil. Flatten and fry again. As when frying ripe plantains what the oil as these tend to get oily very easy.
Don’t forget to subscribe and continue enjoying a Caribbean breeze at el fogoncito!

Arturo! Thank you for this suggestion. I just bought some celeriac, and was looking for something new to try. Sounds very tasty!!
Thanks! They’re also pretty good as a mash (just like mashed potatoes) Just boil them and make your mash. The aroma is amazing!
They make a delicious rich creamy soup as well, no need to add cream…just boil and puree in the cooking water. (Sometimes I use a vegetable broth or add a little Sazon Complete). Delicious!
Nice!! I’ll try that as soon as I run across some celeriac. I’m always on the search for the perfect creamy soup!
