Hello everyone!
Some days ago I came across some “arrocito ” (literal “little rice”) and it brought back some memories. Of course I got some, how could I resist the temptation?
The “arrocito ” or “cocaleca ” street treat is at least as old as I can remember. It was sold as it’s sold today when I was a toddler. Today is still quite popular in the schools where candymen (“paleteros”) usually carry them.
If you ask me the recipe of the arrocito or cocaleca I couldn’t say I know, luckily my “sous chef” is much more skilled that me desserts and she says it’s pretty similar to rice krispies (plus the dye)
It was part of our childhood, we enjoyed them and still today when we see it, it brings us countless memories.
Enjoy the pictures and the memories, specially if you’re Dominican.
A big hug!
Arturo

I love Rice Krispy treats, so I’m sure I would love this as well!
I was at a loss trying to explain it, then my wife looked at my screen and just said “but those are rice krispies”. I was like… uhhh…But yeah, that’s what they basically are…
I probably made a ton of rice krispies during my camping years, so it was a bit shameful. 🙂
